Lenka joined Simpson Millar in 2012 as a Community Care and Education Law Paralegal. She completed her legal training while working for the firm and qualified as a Solicitor in 2015.

She obtained a Master’s degree in Law from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, then completed her Graduate Diploma in Law and her Legal Practice Course at London Metropolitan University.

Lenka practices in all areas of Education Law, including Special Educational Needs (SEN), school admissions, school exclusions and children out of school.

Lenka regularly acts for parents and young people in all types of appeals to the First-tier Tribunal and provides representation at Tribunal hearings. She also has experience in appeals to the Upper Tribunal.

Her expertise includes the use of Judicial Review, for example in circumstances when children and young people are not being provided with special educational provision specified in their Education, Health and Care Plans. Through Judicial Review proceedings, she has successfully challenged a school’s unlawful decision to require a pupil to attend an offsite placement.

Lenka also practices in many areas of Community Care Law. She has wide experience of advising former relevant children with respect to duties owed to them by Local Authorities. She also acts for adults with Social Care needs.

Interests outside of work

Lenka enjoying travelling, yoga and gardening.
