Court of Protection Solicitor
Rose is a Solicitor working within the Court of Protection team. She specialises in helping people who are considered to lack the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves about certain issues.
Her main areas of expertise include deprivation of liberty and best interest cases, as well as cases to determine the client’s capacity to decide on matters such as consent to marriage, residence, care, contact with certain people and sexual relations.
Rose also has experience in cases where there is a crossover with family matters, particularly with regard to forced marriage proceedings and contact issues, and is usually instructed by the Official Solicitor.
She has helped clients obtain more suitable and less restrictive care and support in their care homes or residential placements. Rose has also made sure clients have received vital and appropriate education and support to help them gain capacity to make decisions in particular areas.
In addition, Rose has worked with clients and their families to encourage positive and appropriate contact arrangements where this is an ongoing issue.
Interests outside of work
Rose has been a trustee for five years for Azalea, Luton, a charity that supports sexually exploited and trafficked women.
In her spare time, she enjoys walking in the Yorkshire Dales, baking and spending time with family and friends.
