Medical Negligence Associate Solicitor
She qualified as a Solicitor in 2013 and has over 15 years of experience supporting people with all forms of medical negligence claims. Before joining Simpson Millar, Abi worked at Coles Miller Solicitors and Moore Barlow. She has dealt with a broad range of cases, from moderate surgical or orthopaedic injuries to catastrophically injured children and adults.
She has a track record in ensuring people have the money they require and the care they need to carry on with their lives. Her highlights include a £9m settlement in a cerebral palsy claim (on a 50% liability basis), a £1m settlement for a delay in a diagnosis of sepsis and £450,000 in a negligently performed ACL reconstruction (knee ligament surgery).
Abi often handles high value and complex cases related to delays in diagnosing cancer, serious infections, birth injuries, general surgery and orthopaedics. Many of the claims she handles involve serious injury or death.
She is experienced in purchasing properties on behalf of injured people, with home adaptations and care packages. She also has experience maintaining CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) funding for NHS Continuing Healthcare.
Many people do not have access to sick pay or other employment benefits due to social care funding issues. It is unfair that people should have to shoulder this burden through no fault of their own. So, Abi’s priority is to ensure that her clients do not suffer financial hardship as a result of injuries imposed on them, so that they can live as normal and fulfilling a life as possible.
Before qualifying as a Solicitor, Abi obtained a first-class honours Law degree from the College of Law, within distinction in both the GDL and LPC, after graduating with a 2:1 from The University of Leicester.
