Thomas Turner

Employment Law Paralegal

Thomas is a Paralegal in our Employment Law team. He helps on Protective Awards cases helping people who have been made redundant.

Tom started his legal career working in Motor Insurance and Personal Injury claims, having worked on behalf of both claimants and defendants.

Tom joined Simpson Millar in November 2020 as a paralegal in the Employment department's Protective Awards team.

His primary role is assisting ex-employees of Arcadia, Debenhams, Flybe and TM Lewin to obtain Protective Awards due to their former employers' failure to provide adequate notice and follow the appropriate redundancy consultation procedure.

Tom has gained experience of drafting multiple ET1’s and grounds of complaint for Protective Award cases. This includes issuing the claims at various Nationwide Employment Tribunals.

He has also gained experience towards the Acas Early Conciliation process that precedes the Employment Tribunal issue stage of litigated proceedings, and he is now competent in this area of work and can advise clients upon the mechanics and services Acas provide.

He is the team go-to with regards to on-boarding large volumes of claimants in class actions, and has great attention to detail.

Tom is an empathetic and compassionate person, and a solid support towards the learning and development of more junior members of the team.

He graduated with a 2:1 LLB (Hons) in Law from Liverpool John Moores University. He is currently studying his Legal Practice Course and in the future, he hopes to secure a training contract that will lead him to qualifying as a Solicitor in 2023 or 2024.

Interests outside of work
