Court of Protection Paralegal
Nicole joined Simpson Millar as a Personal Injury Paralegal in July 2018, assisting Charlotte Rankin and Eleanor Walker with serious multitrack Personal Injury cases. She has also been involved with accident at work and occupier’s liability claims, representing clients at joint settlement meetings at Chambers.
She now assists the Public Law team, but mainly Emerald Toogood with her Court of Protection matters. Most of Nicole’s work involves cases in which a vulnerable adult who wishes to challenge a decision which deprives them of their liberty, and where there are disagreements to the individuals capacity or best interests.
Nicole graduated with a 2:1 degree in Law from the University of Surrey in June 2018. Alongside her degree, she volunteered for the Surrey Law Centre at the Guildford Citizen’s Advice Bureau. She also gained experience working in financial law at her previous firm.
She is currently studying for her LPC part-time at The University of Law in Guildford.
Interests outside of work
Nicole enjoys keeping fit and helping charity, and has completed the Cancer Research Race for Life 10k twice, raising over £200 each time. She has completed the London Legal Walk twice. She has also done the London Legal Walk in 2017, and hopes to do it again this year with Simpson Millar.
Nicole also enjoys travelling to new places and learning new languages. She is currently learning German and speaks fluent Russian at home.
During university, Nicole volunteered with the National Centre for Domestic Violence and has a particular interest in helping domestic violence victims. Furthermore, she is a member of Simpson Millar’s PRIDE for Headway community, raising money for brain injury survivors.
