Care Homes Legal Executive
Lucy joined Simpson Millar in 2017, and has more than 10 years’ experience in the legal profession.
She works closely with clients to decide whether they can apply for continuing healthcare funding, reviewing NHS assessments, and advising on their rights of appeal, and the merits of doing so.
Lucy qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in June 2016, and before this had worked for several large regional law firms, dealing mainly with fast-track civil litigation connected with personal injury claims.
Her main areas of work involve formulating appeal cases against decisions made by Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS England. She helps clients prepare for local meetings to decide on claims for support by people going into care homes, or for appeal hearings before the Independent Review Panel.
She also advises clients of their rights to take complaints about decisions to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, the highest authority which can decide on such cases.
Lucy has expertise of helping clients with NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding claims.
She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
