Lauren Deeley Risk

Paralegal, Care Proceedings

Manchester

Areas of Expertise:

Lauren is a Paralegal in our Child Care Proceedings Team, specialising in matters involving children who are the subject of local authority safeguarding and in domestic abuse work.

Her role includes supporting our Solicitors on cases involving meetings with social workers, care proceedings, domestic abuse and private family disputes. Lauren also runs a caseload of Pre-Proceedings matters, assisting parents who need legal advice because a Local Authority has become involved in looking at the care of their children.

After graduating with a Law Degree (Honours), Lauren is now completing her Masters in Law and Legal Practice Course at the University of Law Manchester.

Before joining Simpson Millar, Lauren had experience on a wide variety of difficult Care Proceedings cases. These included cases with allegations of non-accidental injuries to a child, drug and substance misuse concerns, mental health issues and domestic abuse.

Lauren is also experienced in helping clients where English is their second language as well as assisting people through an intermediary, advocate or guardian.

Interests outside of work

Lauren enjoys travelling and before the pandemic, she spent a year visiting Asia, Australia and New Zealand. This has inspired a love of Asian cooking and when she’s not travelling or working, Lauren enjoys cooking Asian food, reading and practising yoga.
