Having gained her Law degree from Durham University, Joy joined Lawfords Solicitors in London as a trainee. On qualifying in 1983, she specialised in employee, trade union and industrial law and rose to Partner and Head of Department before moving to Simpson Millar.
Joy helps clients to find the most effective way to achieve the best outcome for them and advises on when, and on what terms, to settle by agreement and when to make a legal challenge in the Employment Tribunal and/or court.
The employees she assists work at all levels across all sectors, including the public sector, both central government departments and in quasi-governmental organisations and local authorities, finance, education, service and other industries.

Joy enjoys working on her allotment, and wild swimming.
