James Freeman

Solicitor, Dispute Resolution

James is a Civil and Employment Law Solicitor who specialises in Landlord and Tenant Law and Unfair Dismissal claims.

He joined Simpson Millar in March 2019 and has experience in dealing with disputes in respect of breach of contract, commercial property, contested probate, employment law, intellectual property, landlord and tenant matters, personal injury claims and residential leases.

James also advises regarding appeals against Community Protection Notices, bankruptcy proceedings, dispute resolution (including mediation), drafting terms of business, insolvency, recovering debts and settlement agreements.

Recently, James managed to obtain a Suspended Possession Order against an Assured Tenant who had been residing at a property for more than 30 years. Although no written tenancy was in place, James was able to successfully argue that the Tenant was in breach of an implied tenancy agreement due to allowing others to reside there for long periods of time.
