Court of Protection Senior Paralegal
Jack is a Senior Paralegal in the Court of Protection Department having initially joined Simpson Millar in October 2014. He is currently studying his CILEx Level 3 qualification in order to become a Chartered Legal Executive and hopes to move to Level 6 in the near future.
On a daily basis Jack supports the current Deputies within the firm with their caseload of Deputyship (Property & Affairs) matters, where clients lack capacity to manage their own financial affairs.
Jack has particular knowledge of working on cases where clients have acquired brain injuries as a result of a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) or medical negligence suffered at birth. He helps to manage substantial compensation packages received on their behalf through successful litigation claims, working closely with the Serious Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Departments within the firm.
In his relatively short career to date, Jack has built up strong working relationships with clients whilst also working closely with their families in the process. Jack has established a varied network of contacts applicable to Court of Protection, including other solicitors, accountants and investment management companies.
Jack also has conduct of his own caseload, to include one off Court of Protection applications for non-Professional Deputies (known as Lay Deputies) as well as a range of Personal Injury Trusts where the Partners in Simpson Millar act as Professional Trustees for clients who have also received substantial compensation packages but do not require the assistance of the Court of Protection.
Jack’s main interest is following his local football team, Crystal Palace, which takes up a large amount of his time. He also enjoys travelling and in particular, countries with very different cultures to the UK.
