Fachiema is a Paralegal in our Education team, who gives comprehensive legal advice and efficient support to the parents and guardians of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Her role involves making sure that parents and guardians understand the SEND appeal process, which can involve issues such as refusals to issue an Education, Health and Care Plan, refusals to assess and BFI appeals.
Fachiema can advocate on their behalf in hearings, drafts documents for use in Tribunal appeals and also instructs independent experts to obtain evidence to use in SEND appeals.
In addition, she works with Local Authorities to reach agreement in the best interests of the child, and negotiates on behalf of parents and guardians with schools and public bodies.
She also speaks with potential new clients and gives advice on the Civil Legal Advice Line.
Fachiema began her legal career after graduating from Kent University with a Law LLB degree in 2015.
Interests outside of work
Fachiema enjoys travelling several times a year, going cycling and watching musicals and theatre productions.
