Catherine Cheadle

Wills and Probate Solicitor

Career

Catherine has over 20 years’ experience in Wills and Probate, having previously practised Criminal Law as a Senior Crown Prosecutor for 10 years.

Catherine strives to provide not only a professional, but also a caring service when assisting clients in administering Estates, including supporting bereaved families who have suffered a loss of loved ones at Hillsborough.

She uses her wealth of experience to guide her clients through the complicated legal process involved when someone dies, whilst also understanding the personal and emotional needs and feelings of those left behind. Where appropriate, Catherine will appoint and assist a professional to act as a Personal Representative, avoiding the stress of asking a family or friend to sort out affairs on death.

Specialising in advising the older client, Catherine not only advises on the preparation of Wills and and Lasting Powers of Attorney, but by gaining a full understanding of her clients’ individual circumstances, Catherine is able to advise more broadly on ways to protect their assets from possible costs of care in the future, and make sure the amount of Inheritance Tax payable on death is kept to a minimum. Should you wish to appoint a professional as your Attorney rather than a family member, this can also be arranged.

Where a client is considered particularly vulnerable and requires the protection of The Court of Protection or the Public Guardian, Catherine will arrange for the most appropriate person to be appointed Deputy and will continue to support the Deputy to manage financial affairs and with any further applications to the Court which may be required.

Catherine also supports clients affected by personal injury, including Medical Negligence and Industrial Disease. Where appropriate, Catherine and her team will advise and assist in the setting up of a Trust, including a Personal Injury Trust and Family arrangements.

Catherine excelled academically and has an LLB Hons Degree from the University College of Wales and also studied at the College of Law in Chester.

Interests outside of work

Catherine enjoys reading and spending time with her friends and family, including acting as a taxi for her teenage son.
