Helping Hospices Who’ve Cared for Mesothelioma Patients

Partner, Industrial Disease Claims
Hospices provide essential nursing and medical care to people with terminal illnesses free of charge, they are only part funded by the NHS which means they rely on donations to keep going.
Our Industrial Disease Solicitors often help mesothelioma clients who’ve spent their final months being cared for in a hospice, as well as their families, and we frequently see and hear first-hand about the great work that Hospices do. So it’s very important to us to help these vital facilities where we can, so they can keep going and deliver their invaluable services to all who need them.

Most Hospices are registered charities and use the money received from donations to care for our clients. We can include the cost of the Hospice care provided to our clients in their mesothelioma compensation claims. We can then recover this money and pass it on to a Hospice, which means they can re-use the money to provide support to other terminally ill people and their loved ones.
Just recently, we passed £2,635 to one Hospice and £800 to another that had both cared for clients we represented before their deaths from mesothelioma, and this was warmly received.
It’s great to be in a position to give something back to Hospices, as it’s often the case that people don’t realise how much they do, or how much they rely on people’s generosity to stay afloat.
About two-thirds of Hospice income in the UK comes from charitable donations, and according to Hospiceinfo.org, £2.7 million needs to be raised every single day to cover the cost of Hospice care, which works out to more than £1 billion a year.
These are staggering numbers, particularly when you consider how much of a vital medical service each and every Hospice provides.
For our clients who’ve been diagnosed with incurable diseases, such as mesothelioma and other asbestos related conditions, they are truly essential, and they play a huge role in guiding and supporting their families too in what is often the most traumatic time of their lives.
So we’re proud to do our bit to help Hospices continue operating and help those who need their help the most.
