Staff at Quinn Infrastructure Services (QIS) were told yesterday that the business had gone in administration and that they were in the upsetting position of no longer had a job.
If you’ve been told that you’ve been made redundant you could make a Protective Award Claim.
You will need to meet these 2 criteria to make a Protective Award Claim:
- At least 20 people were made redundant at the same location
- QIS did not give you all the correct redundancy consultation process
As long as you meet these 2 criteria, you could make a Protective Award Claim.
There’s no minimum length of service requirement to meet either, so use our eligibility checker to see if you could make a claim on a No Win, No Fee basis.
Quinn Infrastructure Services worked in maintaining the UK Rail and Utilities network and had 200 staff based across their head office in London and their Manchester and Birmingham regional offices.
How Much Can I Claim?
It depends on who pays your Protective Award Claim – if the Insolvency Service pays it there will be a cap on what’s paid. Your payment is based on your usual weekly wage but it will be capped at £544 for a maximum of 8 weeks, totalling £4,352.
If QIS have to pay the Protective Award Claim, they could pay up to 90 days’ pay, if the Employment Tribunal orders them to.
Will a Protective Award Claim Affect My Pay?
No it won’t. The administrators will pay you any outstanding wages, holiday pay or redundancy pay and making a Protective Award Claim won’t affect your entitlement to be paid this outstanding money.
Is There a Time Limit For Making a Protective Award Claim?
There is a short time period to make a Protective Award Claim so you need to act now.
You only have 3 months less one day to make a Protective Award Claim. We can help you and your colleagues to make a group claim, or you can make the claim yourself. But if you miss the deadline, you won’t be able to make a claim at all.
