Our fundraising campaign #staytogether is well underway and we’re thrilled that we’ve received donations of £30,000 in just one week and we’re over halfway to achieving our target of £50,000.
What is #staytogether?
The #staytogether campaign was launched by Nick Harris, Head of Travel Law at Simpson Millar, and his wife, Leona. Leona’s a nurse on a Covid-19 ward, and she was seeing the effect of isolation on patients.
Because Covid-19 patients aren’t allowed any visitors in hospital, sadly many of them can’t say goodbye to their loved ones at the end of their lives. The only way they can say goodbye is by borrowing a mobile phone or tablet from a nurse or doctor, but there aren’t enough to go round.
That’s why Leona and Nick decided to start a fundraising to raise money to buy computer tablets for hospitals across the UK. The rest of us at Simpson Millar decided to get on board and help them raise as much money as possible. Read Leona’s story here.
How is the Money being Spent?
We’ve already bought our first 70 iPads to give out to local hospitals, which were chosen by our colleagues. We want to raise as much money as we can so we can reach even more hospitals across the country and help people to #staytogether at this difficult time.
How Else are We Raising Money?
Some of our colleagues are taking fundraising efforts into their own hands by organising their own challenges in return for fundraising pledges.
