Simpson Millar are proud patrons of the BLF’s mesothelioma research fund, which is making a huge difference to the lives of people with this illness.
Many of the people we help suffer with mesothelioma and other lung illnesses, such as work-related asthma and asbestos-related lung cancer, so we care deeply about this issue.
Our Industrial Disease Solicitors want to help those with life-changing illnesses get the support they need, so they can live with their condition and enjoy the best possible quality of life.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a lung disease as a result of your working conditions, get in touch for a free consultation and legal advice.
Our Industrial Disease Solicitors are supporting the Mesothelioma Patrons scheme, providing donations to help them find new ways of preventing and treating lung disease.
Rob Abraham, Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer at Asthma UK/BLF says, “Simpson Millar is helping us change lives today and create hope for tomorrow by funding vital mesothelioma research.”
Figures from Asthma UK and the BLF clearly show why this is so urgent.
As Industrial Disease Solicitors, we regularly see how mesothelioma affects people’s lives and the lives of their loved ones so we’re proud to be playing a part in tackling this problem and improving outcomes for people with lung disease.
This year, the theme of Love Your Lungs Week is using technology to stay connected.
In the last few months, vulnerable people across the UK have been forced to shield because of underlying health issues. So using technology to stay in touch with others and access much-needed day-to-day support has never been more important.
The charity has launched a Technology for Lung Health hub - an easy way for people with lung conditions to search for apps and online tools to make their lives easier. You can also go on the BLF’s website and social media pages to hear other people’s stories about how technology has helped them.
People with lung diseases have managed to keep in contact with loved ones, attend virtual support groups and access vital information about their illness during this difficult time because of technology.
It’s inspirational to see how resilient people can be in the face of hardship, and how they’ve adapted to changes in the world we couldn’t have predicted.
Senior Associate Solicitor Anthony Waddington helped a former ship worker in his 80s receive £113,000 in compensation in just 6 months.
Anthony also helped him apply for benefits and he received a lump sum payout and Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) in only 4 weeks.
Anthony Waddington also represented a man who was diagnosed with mesothelioma after working at power stations and oil pipelines over several decades.
The claim was settled within 12 months and he was awarded £200,000 in compensation. Again, Anthony helped him apply for state benefits such as a lump sum and IIDB, which he received in 8 weeks of us taking on his case.
