National law firm Simpson Millar has been appointed to the panel for the Child Brain Injury Trust, a UK wide charity providing vital information and support to the families of children with acquired brain injuries.
The new three-year partnership, which started on April 1st, sees Simpson Millar become the charity’s chosen legal partner across Humberside, as well as West and South Yorkshire - covering areas including Sheffield, Leeds and Doncaster.
Moving forward, specialist Solicitors and Lawyers from across the law firm will be on hand to offer independent legal support to the families of children with acquired brain injuries on a range of key topics including claiming benefits and compensation, as well as employment rights surrounding issues such as taking time off to care for dependents.
Established by a group of health professionals in 1991 to research and provide information regarding the effects of ‘traumatic’ injury on a child’s developing brain, the Child Brain Injury Trust is now the leading voluntary sector organisation providing emotional and practical support, information and learning opportunities for families and professionals affected by childhood acquired brain injury in the UK.
Simpson Millar’s Head of Strategic Partnerships, said the firm is closely aligned to the charity’s vision, mission and values, and that it was ‘proud’ to have been appointed to the panel of ‘such an important organisation’.
He said, “As a firm we fundamentally support the vision of the Child Brain Injury Trust in delivering the necessary services through which all children and young people with an acquired brain injury are diagnosed promptly, and receive the support they and their families need to reach their full potential and to have the best quality of life possible.
“We have supported the Child Brain Injury Trust for many years and have raised tens of thousands of pounds to support the vital work that they do. We are therefore delighted to have been appointed to the panel in order to provide expert legal advice to those families most in need.”

Lisa Turan, Chief Executive of the Child Brain Injury Trust (CIBT) said, “Simpson Millar and its expert team have extensive experience and expertise helping families. Importantly, they also share our values of putting families first and listening to their needs.
“The firm has worked with the charity for many years and have represented countless families in similar circumstances to those we support. They understand what they are going through and can help them look to the future.”
Last year Simpson Millar’s team took part in a number of initiatives to support the charity including sponsoring the Yorkshire Porche Festival in August and GloWeek in November, doing a bucket collection to raise funds at the CBIT Track Day, and co-hosting the Long and Winding Road Child Brain Injury Conference in March.
