Cleveland Bridge Staff Could Claim up to 90 Days’ Pay

If you’ve lost your job at Cleveland Bridge because of a recent business restructure, and you weren’t properly consulted about your redundancy, you could be eligible to make a Protective Award Claim.

A Protective Award Claim can be made if:

  • At least 20 members of staff were made redundant at the same location
  • You weren’t given a proper consultation about your redundancy

How much is a Protective Award?

You could claim up to £4,352 through a Protective Award Claim and you’re guaranteed to get at least 8 weeks’ pay by HM Insolvency Service, with a cap of £544 a week.

The amount you’ll get will be based on your gross weekly pay and you can still apply for holiday pay, redundancy pay and any outstanding wages. These are separate to a Protective Award Claim and won’t be affected.

What do I need to do?

Before making a claim, you’ll need to get permission from the joint administrators, Martyn Pullin, David Willis and Iain Townsend. You can’t make a claim without doing this.

The next step is to complete an ACAS Early Conciliation before you can file a claim with the Employment Tribunal, who will then make a judgment about whether or not you were properly consulted about your redundancy.
