Professional Biography
Georgia graduated from Northumbria University in 2018 with a degree in Law with International Business. Shortly after, in July 2018, she joined Simpson Millar as a Paralegal and Education Law Advisor. In this role, she supported children, young people, and their families through the Civil Legal Advice Helpline, focusing on appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Tribunal.
Whilst working full-time, Georgia completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law in Manchester, graduating in 2022. Following her academic achievements and ongoing contribution to the firm, she was awarded a training contract with Simpson Millar in October 2022.
As part of her training contract, Georgia completed seats in the firm’s Education, Child Care, and Public Law and Human Rights teams. She qualified as a Solicitor on 4 October 2024 and accepted a permanent position within the Education and Children’s Rights team.
Georgia works on a broad range of education law matters, including appeals to the SEND Tribunal involving refusal to assess, refusal to issue an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), disputes about EHCP content, cases where the Local Authority has decided to stop the plan (‘cease to maintain’ decisions), and claims involving disability discrimination. She successfully supports families in securing packages of education delivered otherwise than in school (EOTIS) and placements at specialist independent residential schools. Georgia also has experience in issuing judicial review proceedings, particularly in cases where local authorities have failed to deliver suitable education or meet the provision specified in an EHCP.
In her day-to-day role, Georgia mainly supports clients with their SEND Tribunal appeals and advises on a range of related education matters, such as complaints, personal budgets, and judicial review claims.

"I can’t thank Georgia Wake enough. I would give her more than five stars if I could. She always believed in my case and she was always by my side. She did everything she could to make sure that my daughter got her EHCP for her educational needs. She clearly had lots of experience as she was always updating me so I was never kept in the dark, even during a global pandemic. I’m so glad that I found Simpson Millar and I would recommend them and I will definitely come back in the future."
