Management and Structure
Managing Simpson Millar
The firm is structured into 3 distinct areas of law (we call these practice areas), in which people with similar experiences and expertise are able to work collectively together to provide you with the service that you need.
These areas are Personal Injury, Public Law and Private Client. Each of these practice areas have a number of specialist teams within them, again grouped together by specialism.
Each of the 3 practice areas are managed by a Practice Area Head, with each specialist team managed by a Head of Department.
Over the practice areas sits the firm’s Senior Management Team, which is made up of a combination of Lawyers, including each of the 3 Practice Area Heads and business professionals who work together to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business. This Senior Management Team is also responsible for setting the overall business strategy.
In managing the business, the management team focuses on:
- Business planning and strategy
- Financial management and performance
- Customer service and operational efficiency
- People management and making sure we have the best people
- Compliance and risk management
- Marketing and partnerships
Privately owned business
We’re a privately owned business, owned by Doorway. We have no equity partners and everyone within the firm is an employee. The firm is what is known as a ‘limited liability partnership’, commonly referred to as an ‘LLP’, and is regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA).
We’re owned by Doorway, an independent and specialist provider of capital to law firms. Doorway is, in turn, owned by Mount Capital, a family business with global multi-managed funds.
