Employment Law, Redundancy Advice and TUPE
Deana is a Solicitor in the Employment Department, with experience in advising both employers and employees on a variety of employment and HR issues.
Deana’s experience ranges from dealing with day-to-day HR issues for employer clients, to more complex procedures such as redundancy and TUPE advice for both employers and employees.
Deana has exposure to managing and or assisting employer clients of varied size with their HR support, with the aim of minimising the risk of any potential claims being brought against them. This is done by ensuring that they have clear and compliant policies and procedures in place and guiding them through processes. Part of this service often includes drafting policies, procedures, handbooks and contracts. Deana regularly drafts settlement agreements on behalf of employer clients and guides them through the process of settling disputes and or terminating employment via this mechanism.
Deana has experience with delivering seminars in-house and training in the workplace for clients, on a wide range of employment law/HR topics.
Deana often advises employees as to whether or not they have any potential claims to bring against an employer who has dismissed them. Another common type of advice Deana provides is on the terms and effect of settlement agreements where employment is terminated via this mechanism. This can also include negotiating a severance package with an employer to get to the point of having a settlement agreement which can be challenging.
Deana believes that when advising both employers and employees, the key to client satisfaction is communication. Understanding the issue at the outset and offering clear guidance throughout the advice transaction is crucial in maintaining a relationship between the Solicitor and the Client. Deana prides herself on providing a personal service, tailored to the needs of each client, in an approachable but professional manner.
