Professional Biography

Sarah-Jayne joined Simpson Millar in September 2004 and brings over 25 years’ experience in personal injury law, representing individuals who have suffered injury following road traffic collisions and other serious incidents.

Throughout her career, Sarah-Jayne has handled a wide range of personal injury claims, including cases involving serious and life-changing injuries, complex disputes about who was responsible for an accident, and claims involving allegations of fraud. Her experience covers matters such as brain injuries, chronic pain conditions, fibromyalgia, and claims brought through the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), which supports victims injured by uninsured or untraced drivers. She also has extensive experience assisting families following fatal accidents, supporting them through compensation claims during extremely difficult circumstances.

Sarah-Jayne represents Claimants seeking compensation for both general damages, which relate to pain, suffering, the impact the injury has had on a person’s ability to enjoy everyday life, and special damages, which cover financial losses such as lost earnings, treatment costs, and future care needs. She manages cases of varying complexity, from more straightforward injury claims through to complex cases involving serious and life-changing injuries.

In her day-to-day role, Sarah-Jayne is responsible for managing cases from initial instruction through to settlement or trial where required. This includes investigating liability, gathering medical and expert evidence, preparing cases for court, and attending Joint Settlement Meetings (JSMs) to negotiate outcomes on behalf of her clients. She also provides clear and practical advice to clients and liaises closely with Legal Expenses Insurance (LEI) and After the Event (ATE) insurers, ensuring reporting requirements are met throughout the life of a claim.

Alongside her casework, Sarah-Jayne plays an important role within the department by reviewing and assessing new enquiries, helping to identify viable claims and ensuring potential clients receive early and accurate guidance about their legal options.
