Partner, Family Law
Lorraine is a true professional, she explained in detail the whole process and understood my personal needs taking time out of her busy day to listen. Lorraine showed empathy on numerous occasions.
Lorraine is a Partner at Simpson Millar, supporting Head of Practice David Lister in the management and growth of the Family Law team.
She handles middle to high-net value cases including pension claims and complex trusts, and also advises on prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
She has unrivalled knowledge of public sector pensions, in particular police pensions, having advised police officers on pension claims for two decades.
Most of her cases have a business element, whether that’s a family business or shareholding, and she works closely with an accountant to value the business and consider various options for the parties to consider on settlement.
Lorraine also has experience in advising on unmarried property disputes and cohabitation agreements, and specialises in private children cases including relocation cases. She is known for her attention to detail and excellent judgement.
Lorraine has over 20 years’ family law experience, and has been a Partner for nearly 20 years.
She has also had many years’ experience in managing, and prior to joining Simpson Millar, she headed the family team in Manchester for a national law firm, where she worked for nine years.
Lorraine is currently ranked in the Legal 500, where she is described as an “exceptional practitioner with great client care skills and street wisdom”.
She has advised researchers on a regular basis on topical family matters, and appears regularly on national radio and BBC News commenting on current family legal matters. Lorraine has also written articles for The Review, Family Law Journal and lifestyle magazines.
