As well as managing medical negligence claims, Helen has undertaken and attended inquests, and taken part in mediation sessions.
Helen was singled out as an Associate to Watch in the latest Chambers and Partners guide, and described as “approachable”, “available” and “very understanding” when handling sensitive and emotional issues.
She was also praised in 2020’s Chambers and Partners guide as someone who is “very well respected with excellent client care skills”. She was noted for her considerable experience in claims related to the misdiagnosis of cancer.
Helen has actively supported many charities during her career. For example, she takes part in the London Legal Walk and played a wheelchair rugby match for the Spinal Injuries Association. She was also a volunteer on AvMA’s charity telephone helpline for 2 years.
She also worked with Age UK between March and September 2020, telephoning and supporting the elderly during Covid-19.
Helen is committed to promoting and campaigning for access to justice and legal services for all members of society.
Before joining Simpson Millar, Helen was Senior Associate at Hugh James.
She began her career in law as a Medical Negligence Paralegal in 2005 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2010.
Helen sits as a Deputy District Judge on the Northern Circuit.

Helen is a Specialist Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel member and an Accredited Senior Litigator with APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers).
She’s also a member of the Encephalitis Society and AvMA (Action against Medical Accidents).
Interests Outside of Work
Helen is a keen whale watcher and enjoys taking photographs of wildlife. She also likes travelling, reading, going to the theatre, (attempting) DIY and interior design.
