Collaboration brings together legal expertise and specialist support to improve outcomes after life-changing injury
National law firm Simpson Millar has announced a new partnership with the Brain Injury Group, a specialist organisation that helps people affected by brain injury access the rehabilitation, education, care and support services they need.
Every year, thousands of individuals and families face uncertainty following a brain injury, from accessing rehabilitation and specialist education to securing long-term care and support.
Manchester-based Brain Injury Group works with a network of rehabilitation providers, case managers, therapists, specialist schools, charities and support groups, helping families navigate the often-complex challenges that follow a life-changing injury.
Through the partnership, Simpson Millar and Brain Injury Group will work together to improve access to further specialist support, including serious injury legal advice and Court of Protection expertise.
The partnership builds on Simpson Millar's longstanding commitment to helping people affected by serious and catastrophic injuries secure the rehabilitation, care and financial support they need to rebuild their lives.
Across its specialist serious injury and medical negligence teams, the firm supports individuals and families affected by acquired and avoidable brain injuries arising from road traffic collisions, incidents at work, incidents in public places and negligent medical treatment.
Mark Howarth, a Partner at Simpson Millar who specialises in serious and catastrophic incidents at Simpson Millar, said: "One of the biggest challenges families face after a brain injury isn't simply understanding the injury itself, it's knowing where to find the right help. Accessing specialist rehabilitation, education, care and support can be incredibly difficult without the right guidance.
"What the Brain Injury Group does so well is bring those services together and help families find a path forward. That's why this partnership is such a natural fit for Simpson Millar. We both share a commitment to ensuring people receive the support they need to achieve the best possible outcomes after a life-changing injury."
Since being acquired in 2024, Brain Injury Group has expanded its support services while continuing to provide specialist APIL-accredited training for legal, healthcare and rehabilitation professionals.
Alex Demetrious-Seymour, Chief Executive Officer of Brain Injury Group, said: "Families and individuals often tell us they don't know where to start after a brain injury. They may be looking for a specialist school, a rehabilitation provider, support returning to work, advice about benefits or simply someone who understands what they're going through.
"Our role is to connect people with the right support at the right time. By partnering with Simpson Millar, we can strengthen that network and help more individuals and families access the services that can make a real difference to their recovery and future."
As part of the partnership, Simpson Millar will support Brain Injury Group's awareness, training and family support initiatives throughout the year, helping to connect more individuals and families with specialist rehabilitation, education and care services.
The firm's serious injury lawyers will also work alongside the organisation to share expertise and promote access to the support available following a life-changing injury.
Together, the organisations hope to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people living with brain injuries and ensure more individuals and families can access the specialist support, guidance and opportunities they need to move forward with confidence.
