Jessica graduated from the University of Exeter with a First Class LLB in Law in 2015 and was awarded the Hart Publishing Prize for the Best Overall achievement in the Law of Trusts.
As part of her degree, Jessica specialised in UK and International human trafficking law through the completion of a research thesis analysing the proposed protective measures for survivors of trafficking afforded through the, at that time, evolving Modern Slavery Bill (now Act).
Her interest and advocacy in this area has been present from a young age and aged 18 she undertook, alongside her degree, ongoing voluntary work within The Medaille Trust Southern Service residential safe houses for male and female survivors of trafficking. Following in the same vein, post-graduation, Jessica worked for a year at Hestia Housing & Support as part of their anti-human trafficking team.
Hestia are the main providers of anti-trafficking services within Greater London and in her capacity as an Outreach Advocate, Jessica provided one to one advocacy and support to a caseload of adult victims of trafficking whilst their trafficking cases progressed through the National Referral Mechanism.
In her role as a Public Law Paralegal at Simpson Millar, Jessica works within the Community Care and Public Law Team with a particular focus on trafficking cases and cases involving young people in and exiting care.
Jessica loves rifle target shooting, classic novels, backpacking, hiking/walking adventures, and all things Steampunk or tea-related.
