Romy Airey is a Paralegal within our Medical Negligence team. She is based in Manchester.

Professional biography

Romy previously worked as a Paralegal in Personal Injury, with particular experience in Road Traffic Accident claims. This background gave her valuable experience supporting injured clients and managing cases involving complex evidence and sensitive circumstances. She has also studied a broad range of civil law subjects, including both public and private law matters.

In addition, Romy was commissioned by an Upper Tribunal Judge to produce a fact sheet for use by members of the judiciary, providing guidance on the different routes into the legal profession.

In her day-to-day role, Romy supports the Medical Negligence team with a wide range of case management and client care tasks. Her work includes reviewing medical records and legal documents, preparing correspondence and case files, liaising with clients and third parties, and communicating with barristers and the courts. She also assists with managing deadlines and progressing cases efficiently through the claims process.

Professional memberships and accreditations

Romy is a Member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, one of the four Inns of Court in England and Wales that supports the training and professional development of barristers.

Educational background

Romy studied Law (LLB Hons) at Manchester Metropolitan University before going on to complete the Barrister Training Course and Master of Laws (LLM) at BPP University. During her studies, she was awarded the BPP Future Lawyer Barrister Scholarship in recognition of her potential and commitment to the legal profession.

Alongside her academic studies, Romy gained practical legal experience through a number of opportunities. She completed marshalling placements at the Civil Justice Centre, observing proceedings across various areas of law and gaining insight into court processes and judicial decision-making.

Romy chose a career in law because she has always been drawn to advocacy, communication, and helping people feel heard. She is motivated by the opportunity to support individuals through difficult situations, combining empathy with practical problem-solving to help achieve fair outcomes. Romy believes effective legal support is not only about technical knowledge, but also about listening carefully, understanding each client’s circumstances, and making a meaningful difference when people need support the most.
