Paralegal, Abuse Claims
Manchester

Ellie Fitzgerald is a Paralegal within our Abuse Claims team.
Professional Biography
Ellie graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2024 with a degree in Law, developing a strong foundation in legal principles and practice.
During her time at university, Ellie volunteered at the Liverpool Family Law Clinic, where she supported solicitors with case preparation, including assisting with case strategies in matters involving child arrangement disputes. This experience gave her early insight into working with clients during sensitive family situations. She also spent time living in Sydney, where she volunteered with a domestic violence charity, further strengthening her understanding of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing abuse and the importance of providing supportive, accessible services.
Ellie began her legal career in 2021 as an Administrative Assistant at another law firm specialising in criminal law, working alongside her studies. In 2022, she moved to another law firm as a Legal Assistant, before progressing to the role of Paralegal in 2023. In this position, she specialised in fraud matters, managing her own caseload whilst also supporting senior lawyers on complex and high-value cases. This experience enabled her to develop strong organisational, analytical, and client communication skills.
Ellie joined Simpson Millar as a Paralegal within the Abuse Claims team, where she supports a Team Leader with all aspects of their caseload. Her role includes drafting legal documents such as letters and witness statements, reviewing records, and preparing applications to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) and the Legal Aid Agency. She plays an important role in progressing cases and ensuring that clients receive clear and timely support throughout their claim.
