Professional Biography
Saskia achieved her Master's degree in Law with Distinction from the University of Bristol in 2020 and completed her Legal Practice Course at The University of Law in 2021. She joined Simpson Millar as a Senior Paralegal in July 2021 and stepped into a role as a Trainee Solicitor in November 2023 through Simpson Millar’s Solicitor Qualification Programme. She was admitted as a Solicitor on the 5th November 2025.
Saskia has developed significant experience in public law children cases, commonly known as care proceedings, where local authorities become involved due to concerns about a child’s safety or welfare. She has worked on complex and sensitive cases involving non-accidental injury, neglect, domestic violence, and physical and sexual abuse. Her experience also includes cases within the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC), which takes a specialist, problem-solving approach to supporting parents affected by substance misuse. She has substantial experience supporting particularly vulnerable clients, ensuring that they are able to participate fully in proceedings and understand the decisions being made about them and their families.
In her day-to-day role, Saskia represents parents and family members across a range of family law matters. Alongside care proceedings, she advises and acts in private children cases, including applications for Child Arrangements Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders, which relate to where a child lives and important decisions about their upbringing.
Saskia also works on cases under the Public Law Outline (PLO) process, which is the stage before care proceedings are formally issued, and regularly supports clients in matters involving domestic abuse, including applications for Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders. She also provides advice in relation to Special Guardianship, supporting family members who may be considering long-term care arrangements for a child.
She manages her own caseload, prepares cases for court, and attends court hearings regularly, providing clear, practical representation throughout proceedings.
