Paralegal, Public Law and Human Rights

London

Omid Golahmadi is a Paralegal within our Public Law and Human Rights department. He is based in London

Professional biography

Before joining Simpson Millar, Omid worked as a Public Law Paralegal at another law firm, where he assisted on a wide range of cases involving unlawful detention, false imprisonment, asylum claims, and human trafficking. This role gave him valuable experience supporting vulnerable individuals and challenging decisions made by public authorities.

Prior to this, Omid worked as a Legal Caseworker at the AIRE Centre, where he advised and assisted on matters relating to nationality law, the EU Settlement Scheme, and Teixeira carer rights, which can allow certain primary carers of children in education to remain in the UK under specific legal circumstances.

Omid has developed particular expertise in public law and human rights, especially cases involving Articles 3, 5 and 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). These rights protect individuals from torture and inhuman or degrading treatment, safeguard the right to liberty and security, and protect the right to respect for private and family life.

In his day-to-day role, Omid supports solicitors across a broad range of public law and human rights cases. His responsibilities include communicating with clients, drafting legal documents such as pre-action letters and representations to public authorities, preparing evidence, and assisting with case preparation throughout the legal process.

Educational background

Omid graduated from the University of Sussex in 2023 with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). He then went on to complete a Master of Laws (LLM) at SOAS, University of London, graduating in 2024.
