Medical Negligence

Kate McCue

Medical Negligence Associate Solicitor

Bristol

Kate joined the Clinical Negligence department at Simpson Millar in January 2023 after previously working at another firm in Plymouth. Kate qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and has developed extensive experience in both Personal Injury and Medical Negligence.

Initially Kate started working as a Defendant Solicitor for firms such as Bond Pearce LLP and DAC Beachcroft Claims Ltd. This has allowed Kate to develop a tactical advantage to her cases, using the experience of how a claim is dealt with from a Defendant’s perspective.

In 2015 Kate decided to make the change to represent Claimants rather than Defendants, as she felt that too often Claimants were not obtaining the damages they deserved as a result of tactics from the Defendant. Since then Kate has enjoyed developing her practice and working closely with Claimants to  achieve the compensation they deserve.

Kate has obtained significant experience in personal injury claims, but for the last 8 years has specialised in high-value, complex Medical Negligence cases such as birth injury, spinal injury, delayed cancer diagnosis and mental health issues. She has substantial experience of dealing with matters from the outset through to trial.

Kate has also worked as a part-time lecturer, teaching the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law at Exeter since 2020, helping shape the next generation of solicitors and developing students' interest in her area of practice.

Qualifications:

Kate studied law at the University of Kent at Canterbury and enjoyed running a Law Clinic for members of the local community.
