Josie is Paralegal working with our Court of Protection team of solicitors on capacity disputes, best interest decisions and section 21a appeals against DOLs. Some of these cases often address complex issues such as residence, care, sexual relations, contact, medical decisions, and deprivations of liberty.
Josie submits applications to the legal aid agency, considers legal evidence, statements, and records. She also attends client visits and hearings to ensure that all information is noted as part of a client case. Organising and attending conferences, RTMs and advocates meetings etc.
Josie previously worked as a barrister’s clerk (practice manager) at a Clinical negligence and public law set in London. Her role was mainly to manage the Court of Protection and medical treatment matters within the barristers chambers as well as the dairy and practice management of over 45 members of chambers, and training/supervising junior clerks. She would frequently assist with urgent and often out of hours serious medical treatment applications to the high court.
