Joanne Keyworth

Joanne Keyworth is a Paralegal within our Court of Protection, Health and Welfare team. She is based in Leeds.

Professional biography

Joanne began working in the legal profession at the age of 15, after attending Colne Valley High School and gaining qualifications in typing and word processing, which led to her first role within an office environment. Alongside her early employment, she continued her studies part-time at a local college, further developing her administrative and office skills.

Over the course of her career, Joanne has built more than 35 years of experience working within law firms, progressing from an office junior role through to more senior support positions across a variety of legal departments. Her experience includes work in criminal law, family law, and more recently Court of Protection matters, giving her a broad understanding of legal processes and client care across sensitive areas of law.

Before joining Simpson Millar, Joanne spent 35 years at the same law firm, developing extensive practical experience and long-standing professional relationships. Her move to Simpson Millar allowed her to continue building on her experience within the Court of Protection work.

In her day-to-day role, Joanne supports solicitors within the Court of Protection, Health and Welfare team. Her responsibilities include corresponding with clients and other parties involved in proceedings by telephone and email, preparing court bundles, arranging client visits and roundtable meetings, and assisting with applications for legal funding through the Client and Cost Management System (CCMS). Joanne plays an important role in helping cases progress smoothly and ensuring clients and professionals remain updated throughout proceedings.
