Senior Administrator, Education and Children’s Rights
London

Fiona Bloom is a Senior Administrator within our Education and Children’s Rights department. She is based in London.
Fiona provides administrative and organisational support to our Education and Children’s Rights team, helping solicitors to progress their cases and ensuring important documents and information are managed effectively.
She regularly communicates with clients about Legal Aid and Legal Help applications and liaises with the SEND Tribunal and local authorities regarding the filing and service of documents. Fiona brings particular strengths in administration, organisation, record keeping and people management, helping the team manage cases efficiently whilst providing a reliable point of contact for clients.
Before joining Simpson Millar, Fiona gained experience across several areas of law. She began her legal support career in 2013, working in Public Law children matters, where the team represented children through their Children’s Guardian in care proceedings. She later spent seven years supporting private Family Law matters, including divorce, financial matters, Children Act proceedings and international child abduction cases.
From 2022, Fiona worked within an Education Law team, primarily supporting Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) appeals before the SEND Tribunal. She later spent two years working in agricultural commercial property, where much of her work involved property transactions for clients as part of succession planning.
Her varied background has given Fiona extensive experience of providing administrative support in legal matters where clients may be dealing with difficult or sensitive circumstances.
Fiona completed a Legal Secretarial Diploma with Pitman Training in 2009.
Fiona’s career in legal administration began unexpectedly after previously working in private colleges. Her first legal role involved supporting a small team of solicitors representing children in care proceedings, and the experience encouraged her to build a career in legal support.
She is particularly drawn to areas of law where people may be going through challenging periods in their lives. Fiona values being able to contribute both directly, by speaking with clients and providing reassurance when their solicitor is unavailable, and behind the scenes, by providing the administrative and organisational support that allows solicitors to focus on their clients and their cases.
