Education Law Solicitor
Liverpool

Cameron Dunleavy is a Solicitor within our Education and Children’s Rights department. He is based in Liverpool.
Cameron specialises in education law, supporting children, young people, and their families with a wide range of legal issues affecting access to education and appropriate support. His work includes matters involving Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), school admissions, exclusions, discrimination, and disputes with local authorities involving both school-age children and young people in further education.
He has experience supporting families in challenging decisions made by local authorities, including cases where councils have attempted to cease maintaining an EHCP. Cameron has also helped secure placements at specific schools and obtain specialist educational provision to ensure children and young people receive the support they require.
In his day-to-day role, Cameron works closely with clients to understand their circumstances and advise them on the options available to them. He regularly liaises with independent professionals, including Educational Psychologists (EPs), Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), and Occupational Therapists (OTs), to gather evidence in support of a child or young person’s needs.
He prepares cases for hearings before the SEND Tribunal and also assists with judicial review claims in the Administrative Court, where decisions made by public bodies are challenged on the basis that they may be unlawful or unfair. Cameron is committed to helping clients understand what can often feel like a complex legal process and aims to make the law as clear and accessible as possible.
Cameron graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2013 with a 2:1 degree in Politics. He later completed the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) at BPP University, achieving a Commendation, before going on to complete the Legal Practice Course and Master of Laws (LLM) at Liverpool John Moores University, graduating with Distinction in 2021. Cameron was admitted as a Solicitor on 19 June 2025.
Cameron chose a career in law following a period of volunteering with a local organisation supporting asylum seekers. Through this experience, he saw first-hand the positive difference legal support can make to vulnerable individuals experiencing hardship. He is motivated by challenging unfairness and ensuring that the voices of those facing injustice are properly heard.
