Ameeta Bhuhi
Trainee Solicitor, Care Proceedings
Leeds

Areas of Expertise:
Ameeta has been a Trainee Solicitor at Simpson Millar since October 2021 after initially joining us as a Legal Assistant in October 2019. She is currently working in our Claims Against Public Authorities Team within our Public Law and Human Rights department but also has experience of working in our Education and Child Care Proceedings teams.
In July 2020, Ameeta began working as a Paralegal in our Child Care Proceedings team and has since worked on a variety of public and private law cases. The majority of these cases included representing vulnerable clients where social workers had become involved with the family.
Ameeta has experience of representing parents in private children proceedings in relation to disputes over contact arrangements and other matters. She has also represented clients in domestic abuse proceedings.
During her time as a Paralegal, Ameeta handled her own caseload as well as supporting Solicitors with their cases, often in matters where the Local Authority had issued care proceedings. She also has experience of attending pre-proceedings meetings with parents.
Interests outside of work
During her time at university, Ameeta regularly carried out pro bono work, assisting asylum seekers upon their arrival into Britain.
In her spare time, Ameeta enjoys keeping fit, reading and cooking.
