Abbi Hart is a Solicitor within our Public Law and Human Rights departments. She is based in our London office.

Professional Biography

Abbi graduated from the University of Leicester in 2017 with a First Class degree in Law with Politics. She then went on to complete a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Human Rights at the University of Leicester, graduating with Distinction in 2020. Abbi also completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law, graduating with Distinction in 2022. She was admitted as a Solicitor in September 2025.

Before joining Simpson Millar, Abbi undertook her training contract at another law firm, where she completed seats in civil liberties, criminal defence, housing, and personal injury. This provided her with a broad and practical grounding in litigation and client advocacy. She also worked for three years paralegal in the Civil Liberties department at another law firm, gaining significant experience in actions against the police, claims against public authorities, inquests and public inquiries. In addition, Abbi worked for one year as a policy advisor in the House of Commons, where she contributed to policy development and gained insight into how law and public policy interact at a national level.

Abbi joined Simpson Millar in September 2025 as a Solicitor in the Public Law and Human Rights departments. In her day-to-day role, she represents individuals and families in public law and human rights matters, including claims against public bodies, challenges to unlawful decisions through judicial review, and supporting bereaved families through the inquest process. She also assists clients with complaints and investigations involving the police and other State bodies, working closely with counsel and expert witnesses to ensure that clients’ rights are protected.

Professional Memberships/Accreditations

Abbi is Co-Chair of Young Legal Aid Lawyers, a national organisation that represents and supports junior legal aid practitioners and students in advocating for access to justice and the long-term sustainability of legal aid services.

She is also a member of the Police Action Lawyers’ Group (PALG), a specialist network of lawyers who represent individuals bringing claims against the police and other public authorities.

In addition, Abbi is a member of the Inquest Lawyers’ Group, a professional association for lawyers who specialise in representing bereaved families during inquest proceedings.
