Get to Know SOS!SEN
SOS!SEN are a well established charity that help provide impartial advice to parents who have children with SEN. They started back in 2002, as a small group of people who had spent much of their lives in education or related services. They've since grown quite significantly, and handle over 3000 calls each year.
The charity has an independent telephone helpline and lots of information on their website to help parents. They also hold monthly drop in centres, and offer one on one workshop sessions that help parents prepare for the SEN Tribunal.
Most of SOS!SEN's pop ups so far have been held in London, which is why we are pleased to see that they are opening a new advice centre in Manchester
Our Simpson Millar team are very proud to be supporting the charity. James Betts, our solicitor based in our Manchester office, will be taking part in the first clinic, on June 16th at Talbot House Support Centre, 1 High Peak Street, Newton Heath, M40 3AT
. The clinic is open from 11am-2pm
, you don't need to book and you'll get a 30 minute slot with your adviser. Try to make sure you remember to bring along any relevant documents or paperwork.
We at Simpson Millar know that parents of children with SEN need all the help they can get when trying to navigate the legalities and procedures, which is why services like this are so important!
