
Southampton teacher’s conviction highlights urgent need for IICSA recommendations to be implemented
The conviction of Southampton teacher Leo Norman for abusing pupils at St Anne’s Catholic School has reignited concern about safeguarding failures in education. Abuse lawyers at Simpson Millar warn that the case highlights the urgent need for the Government to implement the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) recommendations, including mandatory reporting and a National Redress Scheme, to better protect children and support survivors of abuse.
