Eleanor Barker

Eleanor (Ellie) Barker is a Paralegal in our Child Care Proceedings team, based in our Bristol office,  supporting clients across both Bristol and London.

Professional Biography

Eleanor graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2024 with First Class Honours in Modern Languages and English Literature. As part of her degree, she spent a year at Heidelberg University in Germany, where she studied Germanistik (the study of German language and literature) and was awarded an “Outstanding” grade in her language examinations. Her time abroad helped her develop strong communication, analytical and cross-cultural skills.

Alongside her studies, Eleanor took on leadership roles such as Secretary of the University of Birmingham’s Exchange Society, supporting international students during their time at the university. Her academic work often focused on issues of inequality, discrimination and social justice, laying the foundation for her interest in child protection and family law.

Eleanor joined Simpson Millar in June 2025 as a Paralegal, where she supports our Child Care Proceedings team. She helps prepare legal documents and court correspondence, attends court hearings and client meetings, and ensures clients are kept fully informed about the progress of their cases. Eleanor also handles new client enquiries, providing an empathetic and professional first point of contact for parents and carers seeking advice and support.

Alongside her legal work, Eleanor volunteers for a domestic abuse charity, offering practical and emotional support to individuals affected by violence. This commitment to helping others is reflected in her professional approach, where she provides clear and compassionate support to parents and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
