Silvia Nicolaou Garcia

Silvia joined Maxwell Gillott in August 2015. She specialises in community care and public law cases and has a particular interest in assisting trafficked individuals, unaccompanied minors and vulnerable adults. She is currently working on various legal challenges concerning access to remedies for trafficked individuals.
Silvia qualified as a solicitor in September 2013 after completing her training contract at Leigh Day, where she trained in the International and Group Claims Department and worked on cases against the government for human rights abuses committed outside the UK. She then worked at Deighton Pierce Glynn for two years, where she worked on cases concerning age disputed minors in detention, public and private law challenges on behalf of trafficked individuals and on cases against UK corporations in relation to human rights abuses committed in Colombia.
Silvia has a degree in English and European Law from Queen Mary University of London and Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. Prior to beginning her training contract she was a legal researcher at the Middle East Monitor and she worked and volunteered for a number of NGO’s, including the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre and the Prisoners’ Advice Service.
Silvia is a co-founder of the International Child Redress Project.
