Career:
Bryan qualified in 1994 working in a High Street legal aid practice. At this time he dealt with a varied case load which included representing tenants in cases involving disrepair, possession and illegal eviction and a significant volume of noise-induced hearing loss claims for the local Bangladeshi community. He also prosecuted on behalf of the RSPCA and undertook extensive work for the LGBT community, in one case forcing, through judicial review, a change in the policy of the Social Workers Accreditation Body to amend a client's registration to reflect their changed status following gender reassignment surgery. Bryan has also pursued many welfare benefit claims, taking a Child Benefit case through the initial tribunals as far as the Court of Appeal where the case succeeded and prompted a change in Regulations by the Government.
He joined Simpson Millar in 1998 becoming a Partner in 2003. Since joining Simpson Millar he has concentrated on personal injury claims including many involving severe injuries and industrial disease.
Bryan served on Birmingham City Council for 8 years acting as Chair of the Local Authority Licensing Committee and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee responsible for holding the local NHS service to account and adding value to health provision in Birmingham.
Interests:
Bryan's interests include travel (seasonally, camping), cookery, theatre/cinema. Bryan is a member of Amicus. He is a West Ham United fan and a member of Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
