Compensation for accident at work in a care home
Our client was working in a care home restraining a patient
when the accident occurred.
When a patient was being aggressive and being restrained by 6 members of staff, our client was asked to take over holding the patients leg
. Before our client had chance to secure hold, another employee let go of the patients legs. This allowed the patient to kick out and land a blow
into our client's ribs.
Our client suffered from soft tissue injuries to his ribs
which resolved after 3 months. Liability was admitted by the defendant after enquiries. Medical evidence was secured and negotiations began to take place to come to an agreement over a settlement.£2,150 was the final figure
that was negotiated and accepted by our client for his personal injury in the workplace
