We recently assisted an elderly man claim compensation for medical negligence after he suffered an avoidable injury.

Our client was an elderly patient who had been admitted to hospital when he fell out of his hospital bed and fractured his right hip. Contributing factors to our client's fall including his call bell and vomit bowl not being placed within his reach which increased his risk of falling. The hospital Trust failed to follow guidelines for the assessment and prevention of falls in the elderly and we pursued a medical negligence claim on our client's behalf on this basis.
During the claim's process we obtained our client's medical records and reviewed the risk assessments. After we obtained medical evidence a formal letter of claim was written to the Hospital Trust. Court proceedings were then issued and a final settlement of £12,000 was negotiated and awarded to our client.
