Kir West-Hunter

Public Law Paralegal

Kir is a Paralegal in our Public Law team, which specialises in helping people who aren’t receiving the support they need from public authorities, such as care leavers, asylum seekers and previous victims of human trafficking.

Her main areas of practice and expertise include Judicial Review, Family Reunification and Claims under Section 20 Children Act 1989 cases.

As many of our clients are extremely vulnerable or have been through traumatic experiences, Kir considers it very important to engage them in an empathetic and understanding manner, and dedicates a lot of time to listening to their story before establishing a legal game-plan.

Prior to joining Simpson Millar, Kir graduated from the University of Oxford with BA in Jurisprudence.

Interests outside of work

Kir is a keen cook who is always looking to try new cuisines, and is currently learning Italian. She also enjoys painting, and frequently displayed her art at exhibitions while at university.

Kir is particularly interested in diversity issues, having been the equalities representative at her college at University and is a great believer in diversifying the legal profession.
