Two More Scam Alerts
We have recently been made aware of a further 2 scams by unauthorised entities using our firm name.
The first relates to a 'J D Millar of Simpson Millar LLP Solicitors'
. A person using this name is posing as working for Simpson Millar LLP Solicitors and has written a letter to a member of the public threatening court proceedings regarding a fictitious debt
. The letter was written on headed notepaper using a logo and address and telephone numbers that match our own
, yet in a different format
to our own letters.
The recipient of the letter has been advised that it was not written by us, and the contents can be ignored
The second incident is a re-occurrence of an email scam relating to a 'Franklin Baker (LLP), Simpson Millar LLP Solicitors'
regarding an offer for the acceptance of a large sum of money for a percentage commission. The scammer uses the following contact details:

There is no genuine solicitor called J D Millar or Franklin Baker at Simpson Millar LLP.
As far as we are aware the SRA does not authorise or regulate any individual called J D Millar or Franklin Baker
We can confirm that both these communications are false.
Simpson Millar LLP is a genuine firm which is authorised and regulated by the SRA
. The genuine email address for Simpson Millar LLP is firstname.lastname@example.org
and the contact telephone number for the head office (Leeds branch) is 0345 357 9000
There is no
genuine solicitor called J D Millar or Franklin Baker at Simpson Millar LLP.
What should I do if I receive a scam email?
- Never click on any links in the scam email
- Do not reply to the email or contact the senders in any way
- If you have clicked on a link in the email, do not supply any information on the website that may open
- Do not open any attachments that arrive with the email
