The Club Mac Resort Alcudia – Continuing Reports of Illness

Dated:

Simpson Millar LLP's holiday illness specialists are continuing to encounter reports of illness from holidaymakers staying at the Club Mac Resort in Alcudia, Majorca.

The Club Mac Resort is made up of three different hotels, the Club Mac Marte hotel, the Jupiter hotel and the Saturno hotel. Holidays at these hotels are offered and sold by many leading tour operators and travel agents including First Choice Holidays and Thomas Cook. The resort is a popular destination offering wide ranging facilities on an all-inclusive basis, including numerous on site pools, access to a waterpark and various bars and places to eat.

A review posted today on the TripAdvisor website by a holidaymaker currently in the resort warns of "diarrhoea and vomiting" affecting 6 people from a group of 10 experiencing these symptoms.

When faced with an outbreak of illness it is common for tour operators and hotel staff to tell guests that there is a "virus" or a "mystery bug" being passed around. Reports of "pink undercooked chicken" and "smells of sewage" are likely to suggest however that the symptoms are the result of preventable bacterial or parasitic infection such a salmonella, cryptosporidium, campylobacter or E.coli.

In circumstances where holidaymakers become ill due to a lack of cleanliness or hygiene at a resort, it is possible in the majority of cases to claim compensation in the UK. Simpson Millar LLP's holiday claims team can offer free and detailed advice to anyone that has been affected by illness at the Club Mac Resort. We would urge anyone suffering from holiday illness to visit their GP without delay so that treatment can be obtained.
