Supermarket slip results in £4,000 compensation
We were recently approached by a client who required Simpson Millar's assistance in making a claim after he slipped over and suffered an injury
Our client was shopping in a large supermarket when he slipped and fell in an aisle
. Our client's path in the shopping aisle was obstructed by a trolley so he had to walk round the side of a fridge. On doing so, he slipped and fell on liquid on the floor
and banged himself on the trolley.
Our client suffered a soft tissue injury
to his neck, back, shoulder and elbow which lead to an acceleration of pre-existing degenerative changes for 6-9 months.
After his fall, the manager of the supermarket offered him £20 as a goodwill gesture
which our client refused. When the claim was made the defendant admitted liability and after medical evidence was obtained an offer was made of £4,000 compensation
which was accepted by the client.
