Simpson Millar LLP supports Action Mesothelioma Day
Simpson Millar LLP is helping to campaign for better treatment, care and funding for Mesothelioma sufferers, through their sponsorship of the British Lung Foundation and their presence at parliament on Action Mesothelioma Day on February 27th this year.
The British Lung Foundation, with the help of support groups, charities, healthcare professionals and bereaved families of those affected by the disease, joined forces in 2006 to campaign on issues that impact people affected by the chest cancer, mesothelioma.
Despite the fact that this disease kills one person every five hours in the UK, only six percent of people in the UK know what the disease is; a deadly chest cancer which develops between 15 and 60 years after exposure to asbestos.
Simpson Millar LLP supports this coalition in raising awareness of this incurable cancer. A 15 point charter drawn up in 2006 and presented to Downing Street on the first Action Mesothelioma Day contained over 14,000 signatures in support of faster diagnosis, better treatment and care, increased funding for research and improvements to prevent future exposure to asbestos.
Simpson Millar LLP has already helped recover thousands of pounds in compensation for asbestos victims and their families, but their support does not stop there; this year, asbestos specialists Adrian Fawden and Philip Gower, from Simpson Millar LLP’s specialist asbestos litigation team, will be attending the Parliamentary reception along with British Lung Foundation members to present a new list of signatures in support of the charter.

Simpson Millar LLP, together with the British Lung Foundation, will continue to campaign for victims of asbestos and their families.
