Simpson Millar joins Deputy PM Clegg for Mumsnet flexible working event

Simpson Millar's head of HR Rachel Windle joins a high profile discussion alongside Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg today, to debate the effects of the new right to request flexible working.

Employment Law Changes

The event is being convened by Mumsnet and will focus on how family friendly policies can contribute to stronger workforces.

The roundtable event will be introduced by Mumsnet CEO Justine Roberts, and questions will be taken live from the live audience (of women and men, parents and non-parents, and grandparents and older citizens), and from Mumsnet and Gransnet users who will be participating in live threads on the respective sites. The event will also be attended by Women and Equalities Minister Jo Swinson MP, who is returning on the day from maternity leave.

Deputy Prime Minister Clegg will be participating in the live event having previously sponsored the Children and Families Act which gained royal assent in March. The Act has brought changes to parental leave, school meals and childcare, including the right for employees to request flexible working.

"I'm delighted to be involved as this is a key issue for Simpson Millar as an employer and also for our lawyers who look after family matters like this every day," says Rachel. "This is a very live issue, only this morning I have received a number of requests for flexible working at our own company and we're very keen to discuss the challenges we face in delivering this to our workforce.
